About the holidays
Each year we plan a range of exciting subsidised group holidays for physically disabled people with the support of volunteer carers. Each holiday is for one week and our volunteers stay at the holiday venue (Click here for a list of the 2012 holidays).
Each holiday has two experienced leaders and a nurse who offer support and advice to the other volunteers. For most holidays the volunteer carer to disabled guest ratio is one to one but on our activity holiday, which is for severely disabled young people, the ratio is higher with some guests requiring two carers.
Choosing to volunteer on a 3H Fund holiday will give you the chance to be part of a team of like-minded people. We will match your level of experience to the needs of your guest. Your willingness to help and your abilities and skills will contribute towards the success of an enjoyable holiday for all.
Volunteers are charged a fee, as shown for each holiday in the Holidays section, for accommodation and meals.
Training
Practical training is given during each holiday and please be assured that assistance will always be available if needed. In addition a training afternoon will take place in Tunbridge Wells on the day before the activity holiday - hotel accommodation will be provided.
Getting there
For holidays within the UK, a coach is available to take both disabled guests and volunteers from Tunbridge Wells in Kent to the holiday venue and also return them to Tunbridge Wells after the holiday. Alternatively if it is more convenient people can travel independently to and from the holiday venue but if you are needed on the coach we will inform you prior to the holiday.
Please be aware that if you use your car whilst on holiday you do so at your own risk and 3H Fund would not be liable for any damage if any accidents occur.
